Paris’ stature as a global city, world-renowned for its cultural significance and architectural beauty generates inherent interest in its history and development. Its long and dramatic history from the 3rd century BC, combined with the availability of building age data gave confidence that a coherent and interesting narrative could be constructed.
The recent millennium marks the major watershed in the evolution of human settlement, for it marked the period when urban residents started to exceed the real ones. Understanding patterns of population change and in particular at the global scale, to some extent, can help us understand the past as well.
Buildings are one of the most significant compositions of the city. Owing to the incremental development over time, buildings are diversed in terms of age, size and form, which in turn generated a range of historical and cultural values, providing the reflection of development of Paris at the city level.
Focuses on the smallest spatial scale, the individual building scale as well as the most historically detailed, the Paris storyline provides a linear journey with individual events as much as possible through time and space that provides an immersive experience for the user.
